HORN CONTACT LOCATION: The horn contact location has been moved up on the steering shaft under the instrument panel.
GENERATOR MOUNTING: The generator mounting bracket has been removed from the right hand exhaust manifold. The bracket is integral with the right front engine mount. This new arrangement lowers the position of the fan belt and there is greater access to the fuel pump.
PARKING BRAKE: The parking brake pad is smaller (1 3/4″ x 1 3/4) which provides more clearance between parking brake lever and the dimmer switch.
REAR VIEW MIRROR : The rear view mirror is adjustable for height. A link between the bracket and the ball socket provides for height adjustment. A set screw, see figure 32, holds the mirror in proper position.
CONTROL RELAYS : The horn relay, voltage regulator, starter relay and power brake pump relay are all mounted on the left fender skirt near the cowl in order shown in figure 33.
WIRING: All wires are solid color for easier tracing and identification.
STEERING COLUMN HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT: The height of the steering wheel is adjustable due to elongated vertical slots at the steering column mounting bracket under the instrument panel. See figure 34.
If a steering wheel is to be moved to a new position, it is necessary to loosen the steering-gear-to frame-mounting bolts and reposition the entire column. The shift linkage should also be checked for proper clearances, along with the toe-in adjustment. The additional adjustments are necessary to prevent binding and assure correct operation of related units.
ELECTRICAL UNITS: The adjustments, service procedures, and specifications for 1954 are described under separate cover in the manual “DELCO REMY 12-Volt Electrical Equipment for Passenger Cars.”
